8 Easy Ways to Work More Efficiently At Work

Published by Tunca Ucer on

There are thousands of productivity applications to help you improve your performance today. In fact, what you should do to improve your focus is very simple; a few minor changes in your work habits and your work environment! Here are 8 simple tips to help you increase your productivity.

An Organized Table = A Focused Mind.

How much time do you spend looking for something that isn’t where it should be?

Before you get to the office, take a few minutes each morning to tidy your workspace. Removing items that distract you from your work desk will help you think more clearly when working and get better results.

Choose your fuel well!

It's not a big secret that what you eat affects your productivity throughout the day. So why do you keep over-eating rice in your lunch breaks?

You know that some dishes scream “I’LL MAKE YOU SLEEPY AFTER YOUR LUNCH BREAK!”. These dishes give you a warning and tell you exactly what happens after you eat them.

Your lunch must be based on protein. Try to eat food that contains proteins, such as meat, fish, chicken, cheese, and yogurt so that you don’t end up eating rice, pasta or dessert and fall asleep at your desk after lunch.

Breathe a little!

It is not a realistic approach to expect to work for 8 hours every day. Scientists say that the reason why people do not work more than 8 to 10 hours a day is that the body and mind cannot produce after a certain point.

Walk around the office, go to a nearby coffee shop or read a magazine. Taking short breaks that are unrelated to your business can make a big difference in your performance.

Put on your headphones and turn up the volume!

Listening to music with headphones in the office does not always mean that you are asocial. Listening to your favorite songs while you're working can help you focus on the job and subtract your to-do list.

It also gives your colleagues a subtle message that you don't want to be disturbed. NOTE: Do not ignore the possibility of your administrator speaking to you!

Do the scariest job first!

Sometimes you have to postpone a job because the thought of doing it is very scary.

Instead of waiting until the last minute to finish a job, remove it from your to-do list as soon as possible. Your other jobs will look less intimidating and they'll eliminate your worries regarding the scary job all day. This will make you more productive in general.

Do you remember that incredible relief when you finish a job that you don't want to do? Completing that horrible job first will make you feel exactly the same for the rest of the day, and you'll be eager to have that same feeling in every job you do. Let’s go!

Turn off e-mail and message notifications!

Instead of reading every e-mail that falls in your inbox, try turning off your notifications and checking messages only periodically. But why? Because e-mail and message notifications are constantly coming to your phone or computer.

According to Alex Moore, CEO of e-mail efficiency solution company Boomerang, an employee's job is interrupted by an e-mail notification for 64 seconds. Moore says that if you check your email less often, you can send and receive the same amount of e-mail in 20 percent less time.

Enliven your working environment and add live plants!

Interior and office designer Jenny Gauld says colors can have a significant impact on our mood and productivity throughout the day. For example, he says that blue creates a sense of calm and helps us focus, and that red is perfect for details that require precision and attention.

In a study conducted at Washington State University, she asserts that plants help people better focus on their work and that those who work in an environment with windows and plants are less stressful and more productive.

Stop doing 10 jobs at the same time!

Do you think you can get more done by doing more than one task at the same time?

So, while you're writing an e-mail, go on Facebook at the same time and try calling customers. This may make you feel like you're working hard, but you probably won't be able to do any of these things efficiently.

Because our brain has a limited working capacity. It can be said that our brain has more capacity than it actually does. However, it is very difficult to think of more than one thing at the same time as you switch between tasks.

Your ability to do your job well depends on how well you can focus on a job. Doesn’t matter if it is five minutes or an hour.
